Xie Xin, a leading figure in Chinese contemporary dance, delivers a sober and extremely elegant ballet in From IN. The show has its origins in calligraphy, whose lines are a metaphor for encounter, exchange and sharing, in opposition to the perils of individualism. The bare stage responds to the purity of the movements and the fluidity of the costumes, in a quest for formal perfection. The nine dancers cross and encounter each other in an enigmatic choreography that tends towards the spiritual. Xie Xin, who performed for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui before creating her own company, confirms with From IN her status as an ambassador for a Chinese dance in full renewal.
